In a separate incident, eight Ohio police officers are being investigated following the shooting death of 25-year-old Jayland Walker during a traffic stop. The incident occurred on June 27th and sparked protests and demonstrations in the aftermath.

As the holiday weekend approached, violence escalated in Akron, with multiple shootings reported. On July 17th, a man was shot in the head and remains in critical condition.
