Boeing CEO Dave Calhoun to Step Down Amid Safety Issues
Boeing CEO Dave Calhoun announced on Monday that he will be stepping down from his position by the end of the year. This decision comes amid a series of safety issues and a broader management shakeup within the company.
Calhoun, who has been with Boeing since 2009, became CEO in January 2020. During his tenure, the company has faced numerous challenges, including the grounding of the 737 MAX aircraft following two fatal crashes and the ongoing production issues with the 787 Dreamliner.
In a statement, Calhoun said that he believes it is the right time for a new leader to take the company forward. He will be replaced by Stephanie Pope, Boeing's chief operating officer.
The Boeing board has appointed a former Qualcomm CEO to lead the search for Calhoun's successor.
