Downtown Austin's Emma S. Barrientos Mexican American Cultural Center to Host 2023 Mariachi Spectacular
On September 17, the Emma S. Barrientos Mexican American Cultural Center (ESBMACC) in Downtown Austin will host its annual Mariachi Spectacular. This free, family-friendly event will feature performances by some of the best mariachi bands in the region, and will also include food vendors, arts and crafts, and children's activities.
The Mariachi Spectacular is a celebration of Mexican culture and heritage. Mariachi music is a traditional genre that originated in Mexico in the 19th century. It is characterized by its lively rhythms, festive melodies, and elaborate costumes. Mariachi bands typically consist of violins, trumpets, guitars, and vihuelas (a small guitar-like instrument).
The Emma S. Barrientos Mexican American Cultural Center is a non-profit organization that is dedicated to preserving and promoting Mexican American culture and heritage. The center offers a variety of programs and services, including classes, workshops, exhibitions, and performances. The Mariachi Spectacular is one of the center's most popular events.
